Clara graduated from Cardiff School of Art and Design’s BSc (Hons) Product Design course in 2011 with a 1st class honours. She is now in her second year of a PhD funded by Cardiff Met’s Research and Enterprise Innovation Scholarship scheme. Clara is working alongside Welsh charity Mothers of Africa, a medical educational charity that trains medical staff in Sub-Saharan Africa to care for mothers during pregnancy and childbirth. The charity was set up by Prof. Judith Hall of Cardiff University’s Medical School who is a member of Clara’s PhD supervision team. Clara will be using the links afforded through this partnership to employ a rapid prototype led ethnographic analysis of healthcare in the Chongwe district of Zambia. This knowledge will ultimately be used in the development of culturally appropriate health products for the region.
