Andy Walters

Dr Andrew Walters is Director of Research and Reader in Product Design at the National Centre for Product Design and Development Research (PDR) at UWIC. His research centres on the application of product development processes and technologies, especially in SMEs. His current research focus is on the development of methods for the application of user-centric design, especially in terms of improving accessibility to user-led design and development principles. Over the past thirteen years he has worked with many SMEs and large companies on the development of improved design practice, both on research and consultancy projects. Andrew is currently supervising seven PhDs on the subjects of user centred design, service design, design policy and design management. He has 30+ academic and professional articles published and is member of both the AHRC and EPSRC Peer Review Colleges. He holds a BA in Industrial Design and a PhD on “The Impact of Advanced Manufacturing Technology on Small Welsh Companies”.
